2011 Veterans Day

The Corps of Cadets will hold multiple on-campus ceremonies and participate in the College Station ceremony honoring Veterans Day in Friday, November 11.

The first on-campus ceremony, beginning at 11 a.m. - the same time of day the Armistice was signed on November 11, 1918, will be held at the World War I Monumnet near the West Gate and will include a wreath laying, Taps played by a bugler from the Texas Aggie Band and a three volley saluate by the Ross Volunteer Company.  A second ceremony will be held at the Corps Plaza Memorial at noon including a wreath laying ceremony and Taps.  A third ceremony will follow at the Spanish-American War Memorial and will include a wreath laying ceremony.

The College Station ceremony at Veternans Park will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the event beginning at 5 p.m. on the south side of the park near the flagpoles and the Brazos Valley Memorial.  The Aggie Band will provide music, the Corps Center Guard will raise the colors and the Ross Volunteer Company will provide a three volley salute.

The West Gate Memorial located at the northwest corner of Simpson Drill Field was dedicated by the Classes of '23, '24, '25, and '26 in recognition of the participation by the A&M College of Texas in World War I and of the heroic sacrifices made by 55 A&M Cadets who lost their lives.

The Corps Plaza Memorial is located at the entrance of the Quadrangle on the south side of the campus.  The memorial commemorates those Aggies who have given their lives while on active military duty since the end of World War II and include 392 Aggie names.

The Spanish-American War Memorial is located at the south entrance of Sanders Corps of Cadets Center and recognizes the Aggies who served the United States in its conflict with Spain from 1898-1902.
